WELTRUZA is released in biphasic stages using SteadyTeq™ technology¹
Plasma levels of long-acting olanzapine after WELTRUZA
Following subcutaneous injection, olanzapine is released from the depot in a sustained, biphasic pattern—an initial absorption phase followed by a prolonged release phase. Within 24 hours, WELTRUZA plasma concentrations were consistent with those observed upon initiation of oral olanzapine treatment.1,5§
§This finding does not imply complete pharmacokinetic comparability.
Designed to provide a slow release of medication over the dosing interval
During the prolonged released phase, olanzapine plasma levels then remain sustained over the monthly dosing interval, maintaining clinically relevant plasma levels consistent with a long apparent half-life.1
WELTRUZA uses SteadyTeq™ proprietary copolymer technology to slowly release olanzapine. The relationship between pharmacokinetics and the clinical efficacy of WELTRUZA has not been established.1,2
WELTRUZA comes in a prefilled, single-dose syringe with a short, 5/8-inch needle size1
